Strategic retail development for Stefanel
Strategic retail development for Stefanel
The Background

Founded in 1959, Stefanel is an established fashion brand, famous for its knitwear. The company, which has been listed on the Milan Stock Exchange since 1987, has a current turnover of 160 million euro, 1,200 employees and some 750 stores under the Stefanel umbrella, including outlets throughout Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia.

The Challenge

The parent company wanted to take a more strategic approach to developing its retail presence in the UK, so they asked us to analyse the existing retail footprint and help rationalise it.

The Arbitrage Effect

We identified some under-performing retail units in their London portfolio and negotiated with landlords. We took a strong analytical approach to their retail footprint in the UK and matched potential retail units to their target customer profile and brand image, including suitable areas, building size and investment requirements.

The Result

We achieved substantial premiums by advising the company to take an aggressive marketing approach and close a number of its stores in London. We identified and negotiated potential opportunities in regional UK locations as well. Our value-adding service was recognised by being appointed as retail agent and consultant in Germany.
